Unionville Infill by-law

Unionville Infill by-law

Do you support infill by-law that would limit the maximum size of new homes and additions in  in Varley Village .
This question has been asked through the survey prepared by Town of Markham and initiated by three Councillors -acting on initiative of URA residents .The residents initiating this matter were concerned with a frequent rebuilding of homes in Unionville area with much larger and different in style structures .The current by-law sets limits to total lot coverage and square footage of the house . Many homes were rebuild and build based on this limits . The councillors are seeking residents opinion  on how to proceed  in the council .The residents have got a  dilemma. The proposed  change  would impose up to 40 % reduction in allowable square footage of the house to be build.I am afraid that  few things were overlooked here in preparation for the survey.  I do not understand why we are talking Varley Village not a Markham Village or let say Cachet or not a Buttonville? But let see what this is about.I have prepared few examples of this  criminal acts of  destroying our neighbourhood and  you decide yourself  if you want to stop it.

Now you should hear some real concerns . The  survey has already created negative impact on the value of homes  not only in so called Varley Village abut in Unionville as an official Markham community. Any limitation in area will create speculative gains in other areas of Unionville. Negative publicity will hurt the local real estate market on the long run. Stigmatized community might never recover from the stigma.
Think twice before you want to fix something which is working .
